Summer Events

Summer is a time for rejuvenation and relaxation. Some Sisters take advantage of the summer period to go on retreat or to visit their families. It is also a time for community gatherings and for undertaking the supervision of children and young people at leisure camps and church events.

Leisure Center at La Tuilerie

As every year, the Bleuets Leisure Center welcomed children ages 5 to 11 during the month of July. Sister Anne-Laetitia and her team prepared activities in the footsteps of Loupio, a troubadour and friend of St. Francis of Assisi.

A Salesian meeting in the USA

At the beginning of July, the Oblate Sisters in the USA worked in collaboration with the Oblate Fathers to offer a week of Salesian prayer and activities for high school students. Dozens of youth attended and were inspired by Salesian spirituality for their own lives and to share it with their communities.

Serving Youth

A number of Oblate Sisters were involved in youth ministry. They took part in animating workcamps at Jasseines and the Troyes School of Prayer. Another Oblate Sister lent a hand at the leisure center in Longiron run by the Religious of Saint Vincent de Paul.

World Youth Day in Lisbon

Nine Oblate sisters took part in World Youth Day. They accompanied groups from Linz (Austria), Troyes and Paris (France), and Quito (Ecuador). Between them, they represented 6 countries! Some even had the joy of encountering each other at the airport!

Dilectio in South Africa

Four recent high school graduates went on a mission to South Africa. Accompanied by Sister Anne-Véronique, they prepared and led activities for the children of Matjieskloof and took part in the daily activities of the “Playground”. The trip was an opportunity for them to meet new people and to gain an insight into the country’s social situation.

The Way of the Directory

From July 30 to August 13, four Oblate Sisters hiked across Normandy, following in the footsteps of the Martin family. Leaving from the Sanctuary of Montligeon, they went to Alençon, where St. Thérèse spent her early years. The final destination was Lisieux, via the convent of the Benedictine nuns of Argentan. Their aim: to live our Oblate life according to our Directory, while accepting being away from their usual routines and welcoming encounters along the way.

Lourdes

As they do every year, the Oblate Sisters took part in the diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes with the Diocese of Troyes from August 22 to 28. A total of eight Oblate Sisters took part in the pilgrimage, some as patients, some as assistants or others with a youth group. In the presence of St. Bernadette, Our Lady of Lourdes and the sick, each of them received an abundance of graces for a new year.
