Saturday 1 July: it is the great day for our dear Jubilee Sisters: Sister Carmen-Esther celebrates 60 years of religious profession, Sister Maria-Luz (from Colombia) and Sister Ana-Clotilde celebrate 50 years of religious profession; and the youngest, Sister Mercedes, will put on the habit of the Oblate Sisters.
A beautiful assembly of Sisters, families and guests surround our dear Sisters. The celebration is presided over by Bishop Asimbaya and a small orchestra admirably accompanies the beautiful songs. It is with emotion that we all learn the new name that our dear postulant will now bear: Sister Maria of Sion! A symbol and a program – On our site you will find the link to revisit these moving moments of the celebration. Monsignor sings the preface, the consecration prayers and other liturgical prayers, on melodies proper to the neocatechumenal path, accompanied with finesse by a guitarist. It carries the soul to heaven… With our Mother, we had once had the opportunity to hear this way of singing at a Mass celebrated by a young priest who also accompanied a group of Christians on the New Catechumenal Way; it was in Linz during our canonical visit to Austria. But let us return to Quito; after this very beautiful celebration, fraternal agapes gathered everyone under the large courtyard. In the afternoon, the “beatifications and canonizations” of our dear Jubilees aroused much laughter, but also a real sense of respect for their beautiful and persevering work in the service of the Lord!
